In these videos you can see how far inland a tsunami can penitrate inland no wall or building can stop it. this is one of the reson that casulties can be so high, no amount of money funded by the goverment can stop the damage that a tsunami can do the only thing that you can do is try and perpare yourself the best way that you can.

How powerful is it?

When you think of Tsunamis most people don't understand how powerful they are and how they can destroy buildings. It is said that five inches of water can lift you up off your feet and that you can drown in under the same amount, so there for you would be in much more trouble if you were confronted with a wall of water mabey thirthy feet high and also coming at you at huge speeds up to 600km a hour would kill you instantly. If you were 500 meters inland you could still be hit and killed by it. As costal regions are the most populated areas of most coountries the dead toll for tsunamis is always so high.
